MBA Structure

TSB MBA

We offer a two-year MBA programme. One academic year is divided into three trimesters, with a short break in between each trimester. Each trimester is made up of ten weeks with two modules offered per trimester.

The programme consists of eight core trimester modules, two year-long modules and a choice of three elective modules. The two year-long modules, Research Methodology and the Research Project, are offered in the first and second year, respectively. The year-long modules are integrated with trimester modules over the two-year course of the MBA programme.

The research component of our MBA is structured and consists of three research projects, as opposed to the traditional research dissertation. Students find this to be an attractive feature of our MBA programme as it enables them to complete their MBA in the minimum time of two years.

The core trimester modules are:
  • Leadership and Organisational Behaviour
  • Human Resource and Change Management
  • Quantitative and Qualitative Data Analyses
  • Business Strategy
  • Macro and Micro Economic Analyses
  • Strategic Marketing
  • Accounting and Financial Management
  • Operations Management and Operations Research
The current list of elective modules, from which students must chose three, are:
  • International Business
  • Management of Technology and Innovation
  • Project Management
  • Public Sector Leadership and Governance
  • Quality Management and Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Entrepreneurship and Business Development
Classes run on Saturday mornings from 07:00 – 14:15, every second Sunday morning online and one Tuesday evening a month online. Our MBA programme can be completed in a minimum of two years and a maximum of four years.

Our MBA programme is offered to students in Pretoria, Mbombela and Polokwane. All classes are delivered from the Pretoria Campus and are simultaneously streamed to our students in the other locations. Safe and secure parking is provided to our students on campus.

We also have International field trips that are linked to electives; these trips form an integral part of our MBA programme. Students apply to be part of an international fieldtrip and if successful, have the cost of the trip levied against the specific elective to which the fieldtrip is linked. As such, the cost of the international trip becomes part of their student fees.

The purpose of the international field trips is to expose students to international business developments, cultural differences and differing ideologies. These fieldtrips offer students first-hand experience of the business cultures and approaches in different countries by visiting international companies and attending classes at international partner business schools.
