WBS receives full AMBA re-accreditation for the next 5 years

Wits Business School, part of the University of the Witwatersrand, has officially received re-accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the world’s leading authorities in post-graduate business education, demonstrating its continuing commitment to excellence in management education.

Upon receiving AMBA accreditation, all current MBA and recent MBA alumni of Wits Business School are invited to join AMBA’s global member community of more than 60,000 students and alumni in more than 150 countries on a free basis, for networking, thought leadership, career development, and a variety of benefits.

Accreditation from the Association of MBAs represents the highest standard of achievement in post-graduate business education. Its rigorous assessment criteria ensure that only the highest-calibre programmes which demonstrate the best standards in teaching, curriculum, and student interaction achieve Association of MBAs accreditation.

Wits Business School is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. AMBA accredits the MBA, MBA in the field of Healthcare Leadership and the Executive MBA at the school.

During the accreditation process conducted by AMBA, members of the accreditation panel, representing senior management at AMBA accredited business school, commended the focus on ethics, sustainability and governance at the school. Particularly, the analysis and adoption of the critical SDGs within the school’s purpose and activity was seen to be important and impressive by the panel. They also noted that the students were genuinely excited about this initiative.

The panel was also impressed by the schools’ facilities, noting that the school provides a good balance of traditional and state-of-the-art learning environments which are conducive to reflection, discourse and collegiality.

Finally, the panel mentioned that the Case Centre at the school is an exemplar to international business education.

Professor Maurice Radebe, Head and Director of Wits Business School, said: “We are thrilled to have achieved a further five years’ accreditation with AMBA. This is the result of incredible dedication and hard work on the part of our professional, support and academic staff. As a leading African business school, it is extremely important to benchmark ourselves against the best in the world. I would like to thank the AMBA panel for their support during the accreditation process.”

AMBA accreditation is international in scope and reach, and AMBA works under the belief that accredited programmes should be of the highest standard and consider changing trends and innovation in post-graduate management education. Its accreditation process reflects this commitment to fostering innovation, and demanding business schools to perform at the highest level continually.

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates Association (BGA) said: “I would like to congratulate everyone who worked towards this accreditation at Wits Business School, University of the Witwatersrand. AMBA only accredits the top 2% of business schools in the world, and we are proud of have Wits Business School as part of this exclusive network. The school should be proud of its implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals within its initiatives.”
