Mancosa banishes the "Publish or Perish" threat
In 2011, Mancosa began developing a research calendar which was designed to actively capacitate academics and researchers to publish in accredited and peer reviewed academic journals. This research calendar has since been picking up pace dynamically in 2012.

At the kick-off, a workshop was held with the title “Publish or Perish” by the Director of Research, Dr. Adolf Lowies. This was followed by round table events, a colloquium titled “Business management challenges in the African context” , lunchtime seminars on current business management topics, as well as Turnitin and statistical training for academics, researchers and supervisors. All of these capacitating activities were designed and rolled out in an attempt to strengthen the culture of research and academic rigour at Mancosa, and there are many more events in the pipeline.

The first fruits of these research efforts are already ripe for picking as academics and researchers have published more than 15 academic articles in accredited and peer reviewed academic journals in 2011, and many have been involved with conference proceedings and presentations. Halfway through 2012, the research count is 10 + academic journals and the magic number of 20 academic articles may easily be reached by the end of 2012. These articles are internally moderated and discussed by academic staff before submission to an accredited academic peer reviewed journal and stimulates a substantial amount of research capacitating discussion and thinking.
